English Hot Pot
A hearty English hot pot with tender steak, layered vegetables, and rich flavors, perfect for comforting family dinners or casual gatherings.

Instructions
- Remove all fat from the steak and cut it into 1 1/2 inch cubes.
- Place the steak cubes in a deep 3-quart casserole dish.
- Layer sliced onions over the steak, separated into rings.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then add enough water to barely cover the meat.
- Cover the onions with sliced carrots and season with salt and pepper.
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into slices not too thin.
- Rinse the potato slices well and layer them on top of the carrots, sprinkling each layer with a little salt.
- Brush the top layer of potatoes with melted butter.
- Cover the dish and bake at 400°F for about 2 1/2 hours.
- If the top layer of potatoes begins to brown too much, cover loosely with foil during the last 30 minutes of baking.
