Ingredients

  • 12 to 18 medium onions, quartered
  • 2 cups buttered bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 pound Velveeta cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook onions in salted water until tender.
  2. Save 1 1/2 cups of the onion cooking water.
  3. Blend the saved water, flour, Velveeta cheese, and pepper into a sauce.
  4. Pour the sauce over the cooked onions in a casserole dish.
  5. Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs over the top of the sauce.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
