Ingredients

  • 4 cups thinly sliced Cortland or cooking apples
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 10-inch tube pan.
  3. In a bowl, combine the sliced apples, cinnamon, and 3 tablespoons of sugar; set aside.
  4. In a separate large bowl, mix the flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add the vegetable oil, eggs, and orange juice to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the batter.
  8. Pour the remaining batter over the apples and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for approximately 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before removing from the pan and serving.
