Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • oil

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add milk and beaten egg to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  3. Hold your finger over the funnel opening and fill it with 1/4 cup of batter, about 3/8 to 1/2 inch deep.
  4. Place the funnel near hot oil; remove your finger and pour the batter into the oil in a circular motion to form a 4-inch spiral.
  5. Fry until golden brown, turning once, then drain on paper towels.
  6. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve warm.
