Fabulous Yeast Rolls are soft, fluffy, and lightly sweetened bread rolls perfect for breakfast or dinner. Their warm, yeasty aroma makes them a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 package powdered yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • flour (plain)

Instructions

  1. Scald in a pan the milk, sugar, and shortening.
  2. Let cool. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water and add to the milk mixture.
  3. Add enough flour to make a thin batter.
  4. Cover and set aside until the mixture doubles in size.
  5. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and soda.
  6. Add two cups of the sifted flour to the batter.
  7. Gradually add more flour to make a soft dough consistency.
  8. Store in a covered, oiled container in the refrigerator for up to a couple of days.
