Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup Crisco shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in Crisco using a pastry blender or two knives until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Add milk to the mixture.
  5. Mix with a fork until the particles are moistened and cling together.
  6. Form the dough into a ball.
  7. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.
  8. Knead gently 8 to 10 times.
  9. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
  10. Cut with a floured 2-inch round cutter.
  11. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  12. Bake at 425°F for 12 to 14 minutes.
