A hearty casserole combining savory sausage, tangy sauerkraut, melted cheese, and creamy potatoes, perfect for comforting family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. loose sausage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 large can or bag sauerkraut
  • 8 oz. Cheddar cheese
  • leftover mashed potatoes or instant potatoes

Instructions

  1. Brown the sausage with onions in a skillet.
  2. Drain off excess grease and spread the sausage mixture on the bottom of a casserole dish.
  3. Drain the sauerkraut and spread it on top of the sausage.
  4. Mix shredded cheddar cheese with mashed potatoes.
  5. Spread the cheesy mashed potato mixture on top of the sauerkraut.
  6. Bake the casserole for 45 minutes at 375°F.
