Ingredients

  • 12 egg yolks
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/8 c. sugar
  • 1 1/8 c. heavy cream
  • 1 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. lemon extract
  • 2 Tbsp. brandy
  • 7 c. flour
  • confectioners sugar (to sprinkle)

Instructions

  1. Beat egg yolks, whites, salt, and sugar together for 30 minutes.
  2. Add cream and ground cardamom; stir well.
  3. Mix in melted butter, lemon extract, and brandy until well combined.
  4. Gradually add flour and mix thoroughly to form a stiff dough.
  5. Refrigerate the dough overnight.
  6. Roll small amounts of dough very thin.
  7. Cut into rectangles and shape into bows.
  8. Deep fry at 365°F (around 185°C) until golden brown.
