Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 slices bread
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Layer the bread slices in a baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle the raisins over the bread.
  3. Beat the eggs in a bowl; add sugar, milk, vanilla, and nutmeg. Mix well.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and raisins in the dish.
  5. Sprinkle a little more nutmeg on top.
  6. Set the baking dish in a pan of hot water to create a water bath.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until the pudding is set and golden.
