Ingredients

  • 1 block oleo
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 cup sour milk (or 1 tablespoon vinegar + 1 cup milk)
  • 2 cups pulverized figs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare a loaf pan.
  2. If using milk, add 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup milk to make sour milk; set aside.
  3. Cream together oleo and sugar.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in cinnamon and salt.
  6. Dissolve soda in sour milk and add to the batter.
  7. Stir in pulverized figs until well combined.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake for approximately 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before removing from the pan and slicing.
