Figgy Nut Pie

A luscious figgy nut pie featuring tender cooked figs layered with flaky biscuits, sweet spices, and topped with nuts, perfect for a comforting dessert or special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked figs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 can flaky biscuits

Instructions

  1. Pick 3 quarts of fresh figs, leaving some on the bush for birds, bees, and insects.
  2. Remove stems and thick skin from the figs.
  3. Mash the figs slightly.
  4. Add sugar, lemon juice, and allspice to the mashed figs.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook until the figs are transparent, about 7 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Grease an 11 x 14-inch pan.
  7. Pull apart the layers of the flaky biscuits.
  8. Layer biscuits in the prepared pan, spoon fig mixture over the biscuits, then add another layer of biscuits and more fig mixture.
  9. Sprinkle nuts on top of the pie.
  10. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes.
  11. Serve warm with ice cream.
