A rich, crunchy toffee topped with chocolate wafers and sprinkled with chopped walnuts, perfect for sharing at gatherings or satisfying sweet cravings with a buttery, nutty flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Karo syrup (lite)
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 pound chocolate wafers

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved.
  3. Bring to a boil, then add Karo syrup and water.
  4. Set a candy thermometer in the pan.
  5. Cook to hard crack stage (300°F), about 20 to 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and spread the mixture on sheets of greased aluminum foil.
  7. Immediately spread chocolate wafers over the hot toffee.
  8. Sprinkle half of the chopped walnuts on top.
  9. Turn the foil over and repeat with remaining chocolate wafers and walnuts on the other side.
  10. Work quickly before the toffee cools and hardens.
