Instructions
- Sift flour, baking powder, and soda together.
- Cut in shortening into the dry ingredients.
- Dissolve yeast with sugar and warm water.
- Add yeast mixture and buttermilk to the dry ingredients and mix lightly with a fork.
- Do not knead the dough.
- Refrigerate the dough in an airtight container for at least overnight.
- Pinch off the needed amount of dough.
- Knead the dough well.
- Roll out and cut into biscuits.
- Bake at 450°F (232°C) for about 10 minutes.
- Do not allow biscuits to rise before baking.
- The longer they sit in the refrigerator, the better they taste.
- Biscuits can be made several days ahead when entertaining.
