Flaming Pears

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. can sliced pears
  • 1 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • ground cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Toss the sliced pears in lime juice and set aside in a medium skillet.
  2. Heat the brown sugar and butter or margarine until melted.
  3. Stir in half of the rum and cook for about 1 minute.
  4. Add the pear slices and cook until heated through.
  5. Transfer the pear slices to a serving dish.
  6. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
  7. Pour the remaining rum into the skillet and heat over low heat until hot.
  8. Remove from heat and ignite the rum to flambé.
  9. Pour the flaming rum over the pears.
  10. Serve the pears over vanilla ice cream and garnish with grapes and lime slices.
