  2. Brush both sides of the flank steak with the marinade.
  3. Let the steak stand in the marinade for 2 hours.
  4. Broil the steak 3 to 5 inches from the heat for 5 minutes.

Tips & Substitutions

For a deeper flavor, consider marinating the flank steak overnight instead of just 2 hours. If you don't have wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar works well as a substitute. Fresh herbs can be used instead of dried, just double the amount. When broiling, keep an eye on the steak to prevent overcooking, as flank steak can become tough if cooked too long.

Serving Suggestions

This flank steak pairs beautifully with grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a light meal. Consider serving it alongside some roasted potatoes or a portion of Wild Rice Mix for a hearty side. It also makes a delicious filling for tacos or sandwiches, topped with your favorite condiments.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover flank steak can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For best results when reheating, slice the steak and warm it gently in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of beef broth or water to keep it moist. Avoid microwaving as it can make the meat tough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different cut of beef for this marinade?

Yes, while flank steak is ideal, you can use other cuts like skirt steak or sirloin. Just be mindful of cooking times, as some cuts may require different preparation to achieve the desired tenderness.

How can I ensure my flank steak is tender?

To ensure tenderness, slice the steak against the grain after cooking. This breaks up the muscle fibers, making it easier to chew. Marinating also helps, as the acids in the vinegar can tenderize the meat.

What should I do if I don't have time to marinate?

If you're short on time, you can still flavor the steak by rubbing the marinade ingredients directly onto the meat and letting it sit for at least 30 minutes at room temperature. While it won't be as flavorful as a longer marinade, it will still be delicious.
