Ingredients

  • 1 pt. milk
  • a little more milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and a little milk together to make a thickening. Beat in the egg yolks.
  2. Heat the milk and sugar until warm.
  3. Stir in the flour and egg mixture. Cook only until the mixture coats the spoon. Add a pinch of salt and vanilla.
  4. Pour half the mixture into a dish. Slice bananas over the top to cover.
  5. Use the rest of the mixture to cover the bananas.
  6. Beat egg whites until stiff and cover the top from edge to edge.
  7. Bake for 5 to 10 minutes in an oven preheated to 425°F.
  8. Refrigerate before serving.
