A hearty, savory sandwich featuring sliced frankfurters, sauerkraut, and melted Swiss cheese on toasted rye bread, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal with bold flavors.

Ingredients

  • butter or margarine
  • 4 slices dark rye bread
  • 6 frankfurters
  • 1 can (8 oz) sauerkraut
  • 4 Tbsp. Thousand Island dressing

Instructions

  1. Lightly butter the toasted rye bread slices.
  2. Arrange 3 frankfurter halves on each toast slice.
  3. Divide sauerkraut among the sandwiches.
  4. Spoon 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing on each sandwich.
  5. Top each with one slice of Swiss cheese.
  6. Wrap each sandwich in paper towels.
  7. Place 2 sandwiches on a microwave-safe plate.
  8. Cook on high for 2 1/2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is hot.
  9. Repeat with the remaining sandwiches.
  10. Top with additional dressing if desired.
