Ingredients

  • 5 c. unsifted self-rising flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. warm water
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Dissolve dry yeast in warm water. Add with buttermilk to dry ingredients. Mix well. Turn out on floured board and cut out. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.
