Ingredients

  • 4 squares semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 cup whipping cream

Instructions

  1. In a double boiler over hot, not boiling water, heat the semi-sweet chocolate and light corn syrup until melted and smooth, stirring occasionally with a rubber spatula.
  2. Cover and refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes or until cool.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Heat the milk and whipping cream in a separate saucepan until hot but not boiling.
  5. Pour the heated milk mixture into the chocolate mixture, whisking until smooth and well combined.
  6. Serve hot, optionally topped with whipped cream.
