- Scrape the carrots and cut them lengthwise into thin slices.
- Pare the apples, core, and cut into slices about 1/4 inch thick.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Place a single layer of the apples and carrots in the skillet once the butter has melted.
- Cover tightly and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Turn and brown the other side for an additional 5 minutes.
- Just before finishing, sprinkle with sugar and salt.
- Serve on a hot platter.
