Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened margarine
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2/3 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup pecans

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine and powdered sugar together.
  2. Stir in water and vanilla.
  3. Add all-purpose flour and a dash of salt, then mix well.
  4. Stir in chopped dates and pecans.
  5. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls.
  6. Place the balls 2 1/2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake in a slow oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 20 minutes or until cookies are set but not brown.
  8. While warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar.
