Frosty Date Bars are sweet, nutty treats with chopped dates and walnuts, coated in powdered sugar, perfect for snack time or sharing at gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • dash of salt
  • 2/3 cup chopped pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and confectioners sugar together.
  2. Stir in 1 tablespoon of water and vanilla.
  3. Add sifted all-purpose flour and a dash of salt; mix well.
  4. Fold in chopped dates and chopped walnuts.
  5. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls.
  6. Place the balls on an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 1/2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in a slow oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 20 minutes, or until set and not brown.
  8. While warm, roll the cookies in confectioners sugar.
