Delightful fruit nut drops are crisp, sweet treats with candied pineapple, cherries, and crunchy nuts, perfect for festive occasions or as a colorful snack.

Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3 cups coarsely chopped nuts
  • 8 ounces green candied pineapple, cut to the size of a pea
  • 3/4 pound red candied cherries, halved

Instructions

  1. Beat egg whites until almost stiff, then gradually beat in sugar until stiff.
  2. Dredge candied fruit and chopped nuts with flour and mix until coated.
  3. Add vanilla extract and salt to beaten egg whites, then fold in the floured fruit and nuts.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a well-greased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
