Fudgy Scotch Ring

A rich, fudgy treat with layers of chocolate and butterscotch, accented by crunchy walnuts and cherries, perfect for sharing at gatherings or as a decadent dessert.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz. Nestle semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 6 oz. Nestle butterscotch morsels
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup walnut halves

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate and butterscotch morsels with sweetened condensed milk in the top of a double boiler over hot (not boiling) water.
  2. Stir occasionally until the morsels melt and the mixture begins to thicken.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Add chopped walnuts and vanilla extract. Blend well.
  5. Chill for about 1 hour or until the mixture thickens.
  6. Line the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan with a 12-inch square of foil.
  7. Place 3/4 cup walnut halves in the bottom of the pan, forming a 2-inch wide flat ring.
  8. Spoon the chocolate mixture in small mounds on top of the nuts to form a ring.
  9. Decorate with remaining nuts and maraschino cherries, if desired.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator until firm enough to slice.
  11. Cut into 1/2-inch slices.
