Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • vanilla wafers
  • ripe bananas (4 to 6)

Instructions

  1. Whirl milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla, and flour in a blender.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a double boiler and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer until thick, ensuring not to scorch.
  4. Alternate layering vanilla wafers and bananas in a large casserole dish.
  5. Pour the hot pudding over the layered wafers and bananas.
  6. Top with meringue.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven until lightly browned.
