Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 can fruit pie filling
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream together margarine and sugar.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add flour and salt and blend until well mixed.
  4. Spread a little more than half of the batter on the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch ungreased sheet cake pan.
  5. Spread fruit pie filling over the batter in the pan.
  6. Drop the remaining batter by spoonfuls onto the fruit filling.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for approximately 1 hour.
  8. Top will be light golden brown.
  9. Test the cake with a toothpick for doneness.
  10. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
