- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Cream the butter and powdered sugar together.
- Add the flour, chopped pecans, vanilla, and water; mix well.
- Use hands to shape the dough into small shapes the size of dates.
- Place all cookies on a large, ungreased cookie sheet.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes or overnight.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until barely tanned.
- Turn off the oven.
- Remove 8 to 12 cookies at a time, then replace the cookie sheet in the oven.
- Roll the cookies in powdered sugar and store in a closed container.
