Ksra(Algerian Bread)
Ksra is a traditional Algerian bread with a slightly tangy flavor, aromatic spices, and a crispy crust, perfect for breakfast or pairing with hearty stews.

- In a bowl, dissolve sugar in 1 cup of lukewarm water.
- Stir in the yeast until it dissolves.
- Set the mixture in a warm place for about 5 minutes until bubbly and nearly doubled in volume.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, caraway seeds (if using), and aniseed (if using).
- Add the melted butter, milk, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal.
- Allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
