Gingerbread Cookies(Rolled)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cream the first 3 ingredients.
  2. Add the egg and mix well.
  3. Add the flour, salt, soda, baking powder, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg; mix thoroughly. Store dough at least 2 hours in refrigerator before rolling on floured board and cutting into cookies.
  4. Roll at least 1/4-inch thick. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in a 350° oven.
  5. Use an ungreased cookie sheet.
