Tips & Substitutions

For a more flavorful turkey, consider brining it overnight with a saltwater solution. If you don’t have peach preserves, apricot or orange marmalade can be excellent substitutes for the glaze. Use fresh herbs such as thyme or rosemary in the stuffing for a fragrant touch. Make sure to baste the turkey regularly for a moist result.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the glazed roasted turkey alongside traditional sides like mashed potatoes and green beans for a classic meal. Pair it with red grapes for a refreshing contrast. This turkey pairs beautifully with Cheery Cherry Cheese Tarts for dessert, creating a delightful finish to your holiday feast.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover turkey can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze the turkey in portions, where it can last for up to 4 months. Reheat in the oven at 325°F until heated through, adding a bit of broth to keep it moist.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when the turkey is fully cooked?

The turkey is fully cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F in the thickest part of the thigh. A meat thermometer is the best tool for checking this, ensuring safety and perfect doneness.

Can I prepare the turkey the night before?

Yes, you can prep the turkey the night before by rubbing it with olive oil and stuffing it. Cover it tightly and refrigerate. Remove it from the fridge about an hour before roasting to bring it to room temperature, ensuring even cooking.

What can I use instead of Angostura Bitters?

If you don't have Angostura Bitters, you can use a splash of a similar flavored liqueur, like orange bitters or even a touch of balsamic vinegar for depth in the glaze. Adjust the quantity to taste, as bitters can vary in intensity.
