A hearty, savory cabbage stew with tender potatoes and flavorful meats, perfect for a comforting family meal with a touch of spice and crisp red peppers.

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 small white onion
  • 3 small potatoes
  • 1 tsp dried red pepper
  • choice of favorite meat
  • 1 Tbsp margarine

Instructions

  1. Cube the potatoes.
  2. Cut the cabbage and slice the onions.
  3. Saute the onions in margarine until clear.
  4. Brown the chosen meat and add it to the onions.
  5. Add the cubed potatoes and chopped cabbage to the pot.
  6. Steam all ingredients together for about 30 to 40 minutes.
  7. Add dried red peppers last to maintain crispiness.
  8. Season as desired; if using smoked sausage, no additional seasoning is needed.
  9. Serve hot, preferably with bread sticks.
