Ingredients

  • 2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 c. All-Bran or Bran Buds cereal
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. skim milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, cereal, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Cut in the margarine until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Beat together the egg and milk. Add to the flour mixture and stir until well combined.
  4. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 3 to 4 minutes or until smooth.
  5. Roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a 2-inch biscuit or cookie cutter.
  6. Place the scones in a heated, lightly greased (vegetable cooking spray) or Teflon-coated frying pan.
  7. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
  8. Turn and cook for 10 minutes more.
