Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 9 graham cracker squares
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts (almonds)

Instructions

  1. Microwave 1 tablespoon butter or margarine in an 8 x 8-inch baking dish for 1 minute on High.
  2. Spread the melted butter around the bottom and sides of the dish.
  3. Line the bottom of the dish with graham cracker squares.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
  5. Microwave on High for 1 minute, then beat with a wire whisk until smooth.
  6. Microwave for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Pour the caramel mixture over the graham crackers.
  8. Spread carefully with a straight-edged spatula and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  9. Rotate the dish a quarter turn every 30 seconds during boiling to ensure even heat, boiling for at least 1 minute.
  10. Allow to cool for 2 minutes.
  11. Spread melted chocolate over the cooled caramel layer and let cool completely.
