- Microwave 1 tablespoon butter or margarine in an 8 x 8-inch baking dish for 1 minute on High.
- Spread the melted butter around the bottom and sides of the dish.
- Line the bottom of the dish with graham cracker squares.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
- Microwave on High for 1 minute, then beat with a wire whisk until smooth.
- Microwave for an additional 2 minutes.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the graham crackers.
- Spread carefully with a straight-edged spatula and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- Rotate the dish a quarter turn every 30 seconds during boiling to ensure even heat, boiling for at least 1 minute.
- Allow to cool for 2 minutes.
- Spread melted chocolate over the cooled caramel layer and let cool completely.
