- Sift the dry ingredients together four times.
- Mix in the shortening, breaking it up with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk to form a soft dough or ball.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll out to about 1/2 to 3/4-inch thickness.
- Cut out biscuits with a biscuit cutter and place them on an ungreased baking sheet, not touching each other.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 450°F for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
