Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c. raisins and chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix first 3 ingredients with mixer.
  2. Stir in rest (except raisins and nuts).
  3. Mix well, then add raisins and nuts.
  4. Spread out on ungreased 11 x 17-inch pan with fingers.
  5. Sprinkle with sugar.
  6. Bake at 375° for 9 minutes.
  7. Cut into squares when cool. (Great comfort food!)
