Ingredients

  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. Crisco oil or 1 stick margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 to 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Grease and flour a 15 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Mix dry ingredients together.
  3. Mix molasses, oil, water, milk, eggs, vanilla and sugar together.
  4. Add raisins, if desired. Gradually add dry ingredients.
  5. Pour into prepared pan.
  6. Bake at 400° for 20 to 25 minutes.
