Ingredients

  • 3 c. warm water
  • 1 1/4 tsp. dry yeast
  • 1/3 c. shortening, melted
  • 9 or 10 c. flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. About 6:00 P.M., make bread dough.
  2. Combine warm water, dry yeast, melted shortening, eggs, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Gradually stir in flour to make a stiff dough.
  4. Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Cover the dough and let stand at room temperature for 2 hours.
  6. Punch down the dough.
  7. Let the dough rise again for 1 hour, then punch down and let rise once more.
