Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oleo
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 6 ounces frozen orange juice
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup coconut

Instructions

  1. Cream 1/2 cup oleo, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add vanilla and egg, mixing well.
  3. Stir in 1/2 cup frozen orange juice, blending until well combined.
  4. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the orange juice mixture, stirring until smooth.
  6. Fold in chopped nuts and coconut.
  7. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9 to 11 minutes.
  9. Remove cookies to a cooling rack.
  10. Blend powdered sugar with 1/2 cup oleo and remaining orange juice to make frosting.
  11. Frost hot cookies with the orange frosting.
