Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  4. Add buttermilk gradually, mixing well.
  5. Incorporate flour one cup at a time until the dough is fairly stiff.

  7. Spoon a rounded tablespoonful of dough and shape into cookies with your hands.
  8. Place the shaped cookies on a greased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
