Ingredients

  • bacon or salt pork
  • thinly sliced peppers
  • thinly sliced onions
  • sliced tomatoes
  • sliced cucumbers

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon or salt pork and reserve all the grease.
  2. Spread the liquid grease on both sides of the rye bread and toast on a grill.
  3. Stack the sliced peppers, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers on the toasted bread.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. If bacon was used for the grease, add bacon to the stack and cut as an open-faced sandwich.
