Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. If you prefer a nut-free version, simply omit the chopped nuts, or replace them with chocolate chips for added sweetness. To ensure even baking, check the brownies a few minutes before the suggested time, as oven temperatures can vary. These brownies are similar to Marble Marshmallow Brownies in their decadence!

Serving Suggestions

Serve these brownies warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for an indulgent dessert. They pair wonderfully with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee. For a fun twist, try serving them with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a sprinkle of sea salt. They also complement perfectly with American recipes like Chocolate Covered Sandwiches.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate them for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to enjoy, thaw and reheat in the microwave for a few seconds to regain their gooey texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of cake mix for this recipe?

Yes, you can experiment with other cake mixes like chocolate or vanilla, but keep in mind that the flavor and texture may vary. Just ensure that the mix is similar in consistency to the German chocolate to maintain the balance of ingredients.

What should I do if I don't have evaporated milk?

If you don't have evaporated milk, you can substitute it with regular milk by reducing the amount slightly or using half-and-half for a creamier texture. Another option is to make your own by simmering regular milk until it reduces by about half.

Can I add more chocolate chips to the recipe?

Absolutely! If you're a chocolate lover, feel free to increase the amount of chocolate chips to 1 1/2 cups or more. Just keep in mind that too many chips may affect the baking time slightly, so monitor the brownies as they bake.
