Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons white corn syrup
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 stick butter

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients and bring to a boil.
  2. When it begins to boil, add 1 tablespoon vinegar.
  3. Once the mixture forms a soft ball in cold water, remove from stove and place under electric mixer.
  4. When the mixture begins to thicken, add salt, vanilla, and butter.
  5. Continue to beat at high speed until the mixture is very thick.
  6. Remove from mixer and stir in two cups of nuts.
  7. Press the mixture onto a marble slab and let it set.
  8. Once firm, cut into squares and serve.
