Ingredients

  • 1 package 2-layer size lemon cake mix
  • 1 cup uncooked farina
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely-shredded lemon peel

Instructions

  1. In a large mixer bowl, combine the lemon cake mix and uncooked farina.
  2. Add the milk, eggs, and cooking oil to the mixture.
  3. Beat at medium speed of an electric mixer for the time specified on the cake mix package.
  4. Stir in 3/4 cup chopped walnuts.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between two greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pans.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until the cake tests done.
  7. Place on wire racks and let cool without removing the cakes from the pans.
