Green Beans With Ham Hocks

Ingredients

  • 2 large ham hocks
  • 1 (No. 10) can string beans
  • pepper to taste
  • seasoned salt to taste
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. In a covered saucepan, cook the ham hocks until the meat is almost off the bone.
  2. Add the canned string beans to the saucepan with the ham hocks and cook in a small amount of water.
  3. Pour off the water from the can of beans, rinse the beans, and add them to the saucepan with the meat.
  4. Cook until the beans are tender, about 25 minutes.
  5. Ten minutes before finishing, add the chopped onion, seasoned with pepper and seasoned salt, and the sugar.
  6. Continue cooking until the onions are tender and flavors meld.
