Ground Beef Tacos
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil ⓘ
- 1 small onion, grated ⓘ
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano ⓘ
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed ⓘ
- 1 fresh green chile, very finely chopped ⓘ
- 18 ounces ground beef
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt ⓘ
- 1/2 lime, juice of
- chopped fresh cilantro (a small handful) ⓘ
- 6 -12 flour tortillas, warmed
- To Serve ⓘ
- grated cheddar cheese (or Monterey Jack) ⓘ
- crisp lettuce, thinly sliced ⓘ
- guacamole ⓘ
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a frying pan set over med-high heat.
- Add the onion, cumin, red pepper flakes, and oregano; cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring often, until aromatic.
- Add the garlic and fresh chili and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the beef and salt, mix to combine and break up the beef.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until well browned.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning.
- Add the lime juice and cilantro; stir well.
- To serve-put a generous helping of beef in the middle of each tortilla.
- Top with grated cheese, lettuce, and spoonfuls of guacamole and pico de gallo.
- Serve immediately with extra pico de gallo on the side.
