Ingredients

  • 2 cups deer stew meat
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom or celery soup
  • 1/2 package Lipton beefy onion soup mix
  • 4 potatoes
  • 4 carrots
  • 2 to 3 stalks celery
  • water
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Lightly flour, salt, and pepper the deer stew meat.
  2. Brown the meat in a frying pan with grease.
  3. Remove the meat from the pan.
  4. Add enough flour to absorb the grease in the pan and let it brown, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add a can of cream of mushroom or celery soup and one can of water to the pan.
  6. Stir to make a gravy.
  7. Add Lipton beefy onion soup mix and stir well.
  8. Return the meat to the pan and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  10. Add peeled, cubed potatoes, carrots, and celery to the pan.
  11. Cover and simmer until the meat is tender, stirring occasionally.
  12. Continue simmering for 2 to 2.5 hours, longer if desired.
  13. Alternatively, cook in a crock-pot for several hours until tender.
