Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, consider adding a touch of tahini or a plant-based yogurt alternative. If you're out of soy sauce, tamari can be a great gluten-free substitute. Adjust the amount of turmeric or paprika based on your spice tolerance; start with 1 1/2 tsp. and add more to taste. This mustard also works well in vegan recipes as a zesty dressing.

Serving Suggestions

This healthful mustard pairs beautifully with grilled vegetables, sandwiches, or as a dipping sauce for fresh veggies. It can also enhance the flavor of dishes like Oven-Browned Potatoes(Microwave) or be used as a marinade. Serve it alongside charcuterie boards or spread on wraps for an extra kick.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover mustard in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. If the mixture thickens too much, simply stir in a little warm water to reach your desired consistency. For best flavor, allow it to sit for at least a few hours before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this mustard ahead of time?

Absolutely! In fact, making it a day in advance allows the flavors to meld beautifully. Just be sure to store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container, and give it a good stir before serving.

Is there a way to make this mustard spicier?

Yes, if you prefer a spicier kick, consider adding a dash of cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce during blending. This can elevate the flavor profile and make it more dynamic for those who enjoy heat.

Can I use fresh garlic instead of chopped garlic?

Fresh garlic can definitely be used; however, be aware that it may impart a stronger flavor. If you're sensitive to the pungency of raw garlic, consider roasting it first to mellow the taste before adding it to the mixture.
