Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 packages RapidRise yeast
  • 1 tablespoon orange peel
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Set aside 1 cup of white flour.
  2. Mix the remaining flours, chopped walnuts, RapidRise yeast, orange peel, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Heat milk, honey, and vegetable oil to 125° to 130°F; do not boil.
  4. Stir the heated mixture into the dry ingredients until combined.
  5. Add enough of the reserved dry flour to make the dough workable, then knead for about 8 minutes.
  6. Cover the dough and let it rise for 10 minutes.
  7. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and form into balls.
  8. Place 3 dough balls into each greased pan.
  9. Cover and let rise for 30 to 45 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  11. Bake the loaves for 45 minutes.
  12. Cover the loaves with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
