Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons oregano
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon basil
  • 4 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 6 cups dry bread cubes

Instructions

  1. Mix Parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, basil, salt, and black pepper; set aside.
  2. Toss bread cubes in a large bowl with the cooking oil.
  3. Add the cheese-herb mixture to the bread cubes and toss thoroughly.
  4. Spread the coated bread cubes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 225°F (about 107°C) for 45 minutes to an hour, turning occasionally, until light golden and crisp.
  6. Cool the croutons.
  7. Store in plastic bags with ties or in jars with tight lids.
  8. Will keep about one month.
