Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg.
  4. Add vanilla extract.
  5. Sift together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
  7. Add heavy cream and mix very well until the dough is smooth.
  8. Chill the dough for several hours.
  9. Roll the dough to 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  10. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters such as trees, angels, or bells.
  11. Decorate as desired.
  12. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes.
